What I Read In January 2026.

Better late than never! I read some great books last month and couldn’t wait to share. I’ve also already read some great ones this month and will get February’s list out sooner so I can tell you all about them. Lots of great books to add to your list!
I do have a book of the month membership – I love it so much. I read SO many books from this box. I get so many of my new releases and debut author books there. You can sign up for one here.
Most of these books are linked through bookshop (if available!) and I highly suggest shopping through there because it will support your local indie bookstore. You can choose the local bookstore to support! I support Penguin Books when I buy which is my fave here in Pittsburgh.
Okay, keep me posted on what you’re reading below!
WHAT I READ IN JANUARY 2026
The Correspondent – 5 stars
Oh my gossssh. This book is so wonderful and lovely! I loved the way it was written so much. I absolutely LOVE Sybil too – we follow her as a 70+ woman and read the book through letters written to and from her. It’s incredible. I feel like she is my friend! She is very cold and crotchety at first but I swear, she grows on you. It can be a little confusing at first but all comes together. Highly highly recommend!
Woman Down – 3.5 stars
I was shocked to see a new Colleen Hoover book! I had to read – I’m sure you guys remember when I was reading Colleen Hoover back when she was only self published. This was well over 10 years ago! I didn’t know if I’d love the premise, it sounded more like Verity than her other romances that I liked back in the day. I didn’t dislike this one – but I do prefer her older romance books more! In this book, we follow an author who goes away to try to find inspiration. It is definitely dark but it moves fast and is twisty!
The Odds of You – 4 stars
I really liked this one!! I got in in my book of the month box. In this story, we follow a woman who quit her job to become an author, had a hugely successful first book and is stuck on the next one. She meets an actor on a plane and everyone thinks she is dating him. It’s very cute and fun but also emotional. It’s heartwarming and all about a second chance – I love that.
Lightbreakers – 3.5 stars
Another book of the month pick for me! I wasn’t sure if I’d go for this because it’s a little sci-fi and has some time travel. I am boring and prefer books that can be “real” – haha, whatever that means. Anyway! We follow a married couple, an artist and physicist, who end up unhappy, can’t really communicate and move with the promise of soulful time travel. It was good with great writing, but I live for a fast novel and this was a bit slow for me in parts. It also has a lot of grief in it! Lovely and heartbreaking.
The Shark House – 4.5 stars
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I think I found a new favorite! I don’t know why I was drawn to this on amazon – it called out to me and I downloaded it instantly. It also takes place in the 90s which is probably why I loved it! I was hooked instantly, where we follow a marine biologist who is trying to figure out a mystery of recent shark attacks. The descriptions were so incredible and I just enjoyed it so much.
Never Over – 4 stars
I got this in a book of the month box back in the fall and it somehow got put aside! Second chance romances are my favorite so I just loved this. We follow Liam and Paige, who reconnect after Paige is in desperate need of song writing help. She needs her heart broken so she can write some hits! Eeeep! It was so great and just the kind of book I like. So charming and tons of chemistry!
