This smashburger salad is our favorite way to enjoy a burger bowl these days! Refreshing lettuce and all your favorite burger toppings, under a blanket of smashed patties covered in melty cheese. So delicious and satisfying!
Heat the butter in a large cast iron skillet over medium heat. Season the ground beef with lots of salt and pepper, then divide it into 4 pieces.
Once the skillet is hot, press each piece of ground beef into the skillet, using the bottom of a jar or spatula to smash it into the skillet. Cook for 5 to 6 minutes, then flip and smash the other side into the skillet. You want golden, crisp edges!
Place a piece of cheddar over each smash burger. Let it melt completely, then remove the burgers from the skillet.
Place the lettuce in a bowl and toss it with a big pinch of salt and pepper. Add in the tomatoes and pickles. Tear or cut the smash burgers into pieces and scatter them over the salad.
Drizzle with the caramelized shallot vinaigrette and serve!
